Emma Stone might be one of the world's best-known actresses, but many people don't know her real name.
The bombshell was dropped when the 35-year-old star was visibly pleased as a journalist addressed her by her birth name during a press event.
It's a common trend among celebrities to adopt different names than those given at birth, such as Marshal Mathers, famously known as Eminem, or Winona Ryder, born Winona Laura Horowitz.
The reasons vary; some stars believe their original names lack the pizzazz needed for the limelight, while others simply dislike their birth names and seize the earliest opportunity to change them.
Emma Stone has always been open about the fact that she was born Emily, but adopted Emma for her stage persona due to another actor already having claimed 'Emily Stone' in the SAG-AFTRA union.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show in 2018, Stone shared with Jimmy Fallon how she chose her stage name, revealing it was inspired by her adoration for Emma Bunton of the Spice Girls, also known as Baby Spice.
Emily Stone, the ever-glamorous Hollywood icon more commonly known as Emma Stone, has shocked fans with a revelation on social media. She disclosed: "Growing up, I was super blonde, and my real name is Emily, but I wanted to be called Emma because of Baby Spice and guess what? Now I am."

Despite being globally recognised as Bruno Mars, an intriguing Quora inquiry "How did Bruno Mars get his name? " reflects some fans' curiosity about the origins of such a distinctive stage name far removed from his birth name, Peter Gene Hernandez. This tale unfolds further as IMDb reports that Mars got his nickname as a toddler from his father, specifically because of his likeness to the robust Bruno Sammartino.
A statement enlightens the public with: "You may know Bruno Mars as a multi-talented performer and a brilliant songwriter, but do you know his real name? It's very common for celebrities to go by stage names that completely differ from the monikers they were given at birth, and Bruno is one of those stars."
"Born Peter Gene Hernandez, the 31-year-old singer landed the nickname Bruno as a toddler because he resembled famous wrestler Bruno Sammartino."
"While seeking a recording contract at the age of 17 in La, Bruno acquired the last name Mars because of the responses he would receive: 'Your last name's Hernandez, maybe you should do this Latin music, this Spanish music . . . Enrique's so hot right now.' Maybe he wanted to sound like he was from another planet?".
