My websites, bad reviews

Posted in General on May 5th, 2012 by krillmeed

Recently, a couple of IP addresses have been continuously posting bad reviews of my Main site and the forum. Strange really, no reviews are written about all the other sites on my Toptrek sites, just the ones that belong to me. So i would just like to set the record straight.

These reviews have to be approved by me before they are posted, so it goes without saying that they do not see the light of day so to speak.

I started my website when i realised how much startrek info, images, audio files and software i had collected over the years. This was my way to pass on my collection to others who would love it as much as i do. Notice throughout my sites, there are no adverts, in the star trek way, i do not profit from my sites, i pay for the server out of my own pocket, i do this to keep the Trek dream of a better world alive in my own small way.

As someone pointed out in one of the reviews: Lots of the content of my site can be found elsewere, maybe so, but that can be said about every website around, but still new ones start everyday.

The startrek ecards section, now has over 427 members sending free star trek ecards to there family and friends on a regular basis, as far as i can find, not many sites like that around. There are star trek forums, but i like to think ours is the friendliest one around. As for the other sections, if just one person finds something they are looking for, and downloads it, then my work is done.

I may not update it as much as i would like, but something called work keeps getting in the way, i have to pay for it somehow, even now, i am editing the Mediawiki star trek database, over 29,000 entries to bring them inline with the new design, should be finished by October if my luck holds out, and my health of course. lol

So for the ones who are bashing my efforts, don´t bother, it just makes me more determined to work even harder, and for those of you who have supported my efforts over the last 10 years, or have used my sites for what they were intended, i thank you all.

Just my 10 cents worth, now i will get off my soapbox and get back to work. Enjoy

The Walter Koenig Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Ceremony

Posted in Announcements on April 21st, 2012 by krillmeed

On Monday September 10th, Walter Koenig will finally be receiving a long-deserved Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Walter will be the last actor from the original Star Trek series to receive this honor.

You are invited to join Walter, his family, friends and fans from around the world to the induction ceremony for Walter’s Star on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood. This is a free event that is open to the public. The ceremony will not only be attended by a host of celebrities who will be honoring Walter, but Star Trek’s own Leonard Nimoy will be speaking!

To learn more about this special celebration and to donate to its cause please visit http://www.walterstarfund.com.

Received this by email and think it is long overdue. He was part of star trek that moulded a generation. I hope one day to be able to see it. Even better to meet the great man himself. I-Wish

Star trek 2 The storyline

Posted in Point of view on April 17th, 2012 by krillmeed

The web is alive with rumours about the storyline of star trek 2. It would seem that a prequel of  The wath of Kahn is the favourite. Sorry to say, but i think that has been done to death, not just in TOS but in the movies and in Enterprise.

I was hoping for maybe a Tribble storyline, a bit of light humour, Or even better, a Klingon storyline. Maybe J.J. still might add a Klingon or two in the new film, I am a great fan of his, including Fringe and Alcatraz, how he does it all is beyond me.

Not impressed that we have to wait so long between films, especially because there are no new trek series in the works or even planned. Something needs to be done to bring in a “New Generation” of fans, i just hope that like a lot of good scifi series, star trek will not die out.

Merry Christmas and a Happy new year

I am hoping next year will be even better for us, and i would like to thank everyone who has helped me with the new design, and emailed nice comments about it.

So thank you for your support, have a great time with your families, and hope to see you around next year. Enjoy

Posted in Wiki database on December 23rd, 2011 by krillmeed

For over a year now i have been asking around for help building a LCARS type template for the wiki. For once with help i had no takers Cry  So if all else fails, do it yourself. I have had a go, remember this is a work in progress, but thanks to a good starting point the template by Paul at: http://paulgu.com/wiki/Home Who also has been there for support i have made a start. Opinons welcome, be kind, as i said, its a work in progress and far from finished.  It can be seen by going to my mainsite at http://krillmeed.com/ and clicking on Database. Enjoy

Star trek conventions 2012

Posted in Star trek conventions on December 18th, 2011 by krillmeed

I have finished the star trek conventions page. As stated in the news section, i also added as many conventions who have star trek stars as guests. I hope i have mentioned your favourite one, if not email me with the details and  i will add them to the page.

Hoping to get to FedCon 21 again this year in Dusseldorf, but funds are a bit tight at the moment, so no promises. I really enjoyed last year, even though it was during the same weekend as the royal wedding, Robert Duncan McNeil and Garrett Wang really stole the show for me, as Garrett is appearing again this year as master of ceremonies, it should be a blast. Two thumbs up from me.

Just how big is Krillmeed.com?

Posted in Announcements on December 18th, 2011 by krillmeed

After finishing the site revamp which i started way back in March. I am proud to announce Krillmeed.com is over 15GB and hosts more than 188,174 star trek files. It may not be the biggest, but i hope it is in the top ten so to speak. I hope everyone agrees

Why the name Krillmeed?

Posted in General on December 18th, 2011 by krillmeed

I am often asked were the name Krillmeed came from. So i will now tell the story one last time here.

It started back about 15 years ago, when i first got my win 95 computer, and started to play with it. To set up a yahoo email account, i needed a name. As i found out, i could not use my real name unless i had at least 3 numbers after it. So after trying a few cool nicknames, i give up for the day. Next day i was watching the film “Krull” and thought, good one, will try that. Already taken, after that film, came some other medievel film with the drink “Meed” mentioned. Something clicked and i put the 2 words together. As i was registering “Krullmeed” on yahoo, i mistyped and it ended up Krillmeed. Since then, it has grown on me, and is unique. Unless a product ends up being called that, i am convinced it is just mine. Overjoy

Forum revamp

Posted in Forum on July 3rd, 2011 by krillmeed

Due to problems with Integramod not being updated in years. We have switched the forum to a phpbb3 forum. A lot of post and files have been copied over, and the forum is running smoothly once again. Most members have rejoined, so its still the friendliest star trek forum on the net. New members always welcome. So come on in and join the fun.
